Muddy Ground spider

Cryptothele sundaica

Description:

A Zodariid spider wet after somehow falling into the water stream that is flowing out from the cave. The spider is seen resting on a limestone pebble beside the stream. From the photos above, we can see that it is black, it's abdomen seems to be dark cream in color. Size: 1cm in length.

Habitat:

Under ground or guano, inside or outside Madai cave, Kunak, Sabah.

Notes:

I found this wet spider on a small limestone beside the stream outside the cave. The later 2 photos show that there is a feather (probably swift's) on the spider. I can assume that the spider has fallen into the water and managed to climb out to safety again. After 5 years, I finally found that this is a Cryptothele sp. which looks like a Liphistiidae. >>>Map accuracy : 2km diameter.
