Eastern Screech Owl

Megascops asio

Gray morph eastern screech owl.

Found around noon sitting in a grove of bamboo. He stayed in that spot for several hours (at least 6). This little guy was roosting approximately 4.5 meters above ground and 2 meters from a public walkway (about 0.5 meters into the bamboo grove). The surrounding area had an abundance of rats, squirrels, anoles, and other small prey items ideal for a small owl.
