Great Spangled Fritillary

Speyeria cybele

Description:

Upper side wings are brownish orange with variable degrees of darker brown spread on the inner half of both wings. There is also a pattern of stripes, spots and crescents along the outer half of the wings. The body is brown with thin, club-tipped antennae.

Habitat:

Spotted at the Tamarac Visitor Center on a swamp milkweed flower in an open sunny area.

Notes:

Belongs to the Fritillary group.
