Desert Bighorn Sheep

Ovis canadensis nelsoni

Description:

A subspecies of bighorn sheep that occurs in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Although smaller than the Rocky Mountain subspecies it's horns are still impressive. It is a lighter brown than the mountain version

Habitat:

Desert plateaus and high desert

Notes:

These two are in the Los Angeles Zoo.
