Orange Mouthed Lizard Fish

Saurida flamma

Description:

The orange mouthed lizard fish is an expert of camouflage. It is able to blend well with its environment, and silently stalk prey before they ambush the. This fish gets its name by having a distinctive row of orange and white, shark, bristle like teeth in its mouth. These are used to tear up flesh before being inhaled. This fish is somewhat prominent and can grow up to 21 inches in length. They have been known to bite humans who handle them with no care.

Habitat:

The lizard fish can be found from depths of 1 foot to 80 feet of water. The color of their sin and camouflage is adaptive to the area that they are in, hence if they are n a muddy area, they would be tan, or brown. They are normally found in patches of sand where they can bury themselves into the sand to stalk and ambush prey. They are able to adapt to brackish water also, so they have a massive range of places to live in.
