Description:

Spotted at a weekend hike in the Edge of Apallachia - Parasitic, annual or biennial herb 8 to 20 inches tall.Flowers: Greenish yellow approx. 1 inch long - 2 lipped corolla longer than red coloured calyx, borne in dense terminal spikes , red - orange bracts are deeply coloured than the actual flowers. (pollinated by humming-birds)

Habitat:

Moist meadows , prairies and barren hillside.

Yes Teressa very vibrant colours - We have been startled by them in the valleys and hillsides of Idaho when we lived there.
