Prairie Falcon

Falco mexicanus

Description:

Similar to the Peregrine Falcon. Brown upper parts and spotted streaks on under parts. Long tail, brown patches under the wings and near ear. The mustache on the face is narrow and long. There is a white line over the eye. This one had a full crop which means it ate it's prey recently.

Habitat:

This was spotted on telephone poles near by open land and airport runways.

Yes they are. The first time I saw one it was about 100ft high and all I got was the underside. Glad I was able to find this one.
