Philippine Mud Crab

Description:

Every year, days before the mating season, mud crabs cross our place to go to the inner swamp to mate then go back to the coastal swamp again to prepare for spawning. Unfortunately some of them end up on the dining tables.

Habitat:

Mangrove forests and swamps.

Notes:

Wild and hybrid mud crabs are cultured for commercial consumption in the Philipines.

Hi Shekainah! This would be a good addition to the Crustacea Filipiniana mission. I hope you'll include it there. :)
