Eurasian Tree Sparrow

Passer montanus

Description:

Slightly smaller than House sparrow, it is often confused with this species. Differentiated from House sparrow by brown crown (not grey), pure white face and black spot on cheeks, and smaller black bib - it never expands to chest.

Habitat:

Wooded area in a hotel garden right behind the town beach in Sittwe, close to the beach, still in urban setting. This specimen was part of the flock of House sparrows (nesting around, mainly under the roof), but the only Eurasian Tree I was able to see and ID.
