Haemorhous mexicanus
This rosy-hued house finch was observed near a bird feeder with a lemon-yellow friend, the American Goldfinch (Spinus tristis, female/immature?). He then relocated to the shrubbery (photo 3).
Birds were spotted at Tanglewood Nature Center, a hilly area surrounded by temperate woodlands, at an approximate elevation of 1200 feet.
I find that cloudy conditions are rewarding for birding.
