You should send your Eucalypt beetle photos to the folks at UC Riverside so that they can keep tabs on the species appearing down there.

We've had quite a few Eucalyptus pests imported into California in recent years. We have several species of Eucalypt Chrysomelidae now. Did you get any other shots of the beetle?

This is also an imported tortoise leaf beetle feeding on the leaves as we watch.
I do not recognize this one but it is similar to these
