large mantis, uniformly green, about 4", called shield or leaf mantis because of their extended, leaf-like thoraxes

Habitat:

tropical forest on limestone

Notes:

I saw this on a trail between two small villages in Ba Be Lakes National Park.

Thanks Daniele. You're right the head is very similar, just a bit different with white line markings on your guy. No, this isn't the one in my profile pic. This one didn't try to get on me. He just stood his ground while I got very close. I still have to post the one I got cozy with.

Thanks everyone! Patty, It wasn't too happy I was close and was ready to attack me! Or maybe he saw his reflection in the lens and was attacking another mantis? I don't know for sure.
