Melanargia galathea ab. addenda
A marbled white on fern. 1st & 2nd photos: Underside of wings. 3rd photo: upperside of wings. There is an extra eye-spot (ocellus) in s4 of the hind-wing underside that is not found in the standard form of Melanargia galathea (see 2nd photo). This is an aberration known as "addenda".
Meadow on the edge of deciduous woodland in mount Chortiatis (Thessaloniki, Greece).

Thanks Inês. Of course I realized it when looking at the photos and not in the field!
it's really cool that you caught that extra spot in the pictures :)
Thanks Inês. Probably this one is an exceptional form of Melanargia galathea (a rare aberration)!
Beautiful! Melanargia species are some of my favorite butterflies :)
