Red eared Slider

Trachemys scripta elegans

Description:

about 1.5 inches long reticulated pattern on shell striped head, with read in the ear area.

Habitat:

The red eared slider is from a more temperate climate; the south central United States. It is an invasive species in this area (Northeast United States) because people carelessly release pet red eared sliders into the wild.

Notes:

This guy, and his brother were found in a swamp in Lynn Woods.

it is a turtle. its called a slider because in their natural habitat if a human gets to close they slide into the water.
