White-winged Scoter

Description:

Winter plumage on this individual, but white wing bar is distinctive, as is shape of the bill.

Habitat:

Prospect Lake is an artificial reservoir in a city park set in an urban residential neighborhood. Park is mostly lawns with planted trees (elm, cottonwood, mixed conifers).

Notes:

White-winged Scoter is normally an ocean-going duck, so quite out-of-place here.
