Description:

Stocky built bird with a great eye for fishing and a loud rattling call. Large looking blue-grey head with a crest. Blue-Grey back, back and tail. White spot in front of eyes, white collar and underside. Both male and female will have a solid blue-grey band across the chest and females will also have a rusty colored from underwing, flanks and across the belly. Bill is long and spear-like.

Habitat:

Lakes and ponds. Sometimes over canals

Notes:

Spotted with repeated dives but no catch as I watched
