Stalk Eyed Fly

Diopsidae

Description:

A small fly, around 10mm in length, possibly less. Found on low vegetation alongside a small stream.

Habitat:

Adjacent to a small stream. Altitude 1000m.

Notes:

I thought this fly might have been rare, as I had never seen it before on my daily safaris. But, as I looked around, I found that it was quite common, but such a tiny, insignificant fly had failed to grab my attention. This just shows that you have to get up close to everything or you will miss out on some incredible sights.
