Brown Blowfly

Caalliphora ochracea

Description:

A medium sized fly with reddish brown eyes with yellow hairs on the eye facets. The short rounded abdomen was the same colour as the eyes. Thorax was blue green.

Habitat:

Grassy paddock in a suburban area.

Notes:

These are said to be a rarer species of the blowfly that are prevalent in coastal and elevated areas.
Blowfly live on carrion.
