Black and Yellow Lichen Moth

Lycomorpha pholus

Description:

Small moth with striking black and orange coloration. The caterpillar of this species feeds on lichens.

Habitat:

Acadia National Park. Wooded mountainous area.

Notes:

This moth decided to land on my sock while we were hiking in Acadia National Park.

We loved Acadia. I would go back there in a heartbeat! Wished we lived a little closer to it.
