Wombat Berry

Eustrephus latifolius

Description:

Flowers were a delicate pink with hairy petals. This robust twining plant also had green unripe berries.
Leaves have longitudinal veins and are lanceolate.

Habitat:

Spotted clambering on other plants in a nature reserve - Cabbage Palm CNR, Marlo.
Occurs in dry and wet forests along the eastern states of Australia.

Notes:

The fruits ripen to orange berries that are eaten by creatures like the wombat, hence the name.
