Double-spined Darner

Gynacantha sp.

Description:

This is a good sized dragonfly. I am not certain, but I think it is the biggest one I have seen here in the Philippines. However, its size does not help much when it comes to identification and, for now, I can't quite ID it to species level.

Habitat:

This Double-spined Darner dragonfly flew into our back terrace and rested on the lid of a cool box. It stayed there just long enough for the three photos shown above. It came in from our backyard which, at this time of year usually has a few dragonflies darting around, but they don't often land in a convenient spot for a photo.
