Description:

Large aggressive growing shrub with fragrant purplish flowers. Common lilac tends to flower profusely in alternate years. This lilac is a reminder of the early settlers that came to this area and have long gone. Now the lilac has grown into a formidable grove that is almost impenetrable along the creek.

Habitat:

Spotted along the Umtanum Creek. Eastern Washington.
