Striped Blister Beetle

Epicauta vittata

Description:

Medium sized beetle with an elongated body. Orange head with two dark triangles on the top. Protonum is small and dark with a single yellow stripe in the center. Elytra have two dark stripes each. Dark legs. This beetle was sitting on the roller for the extension cord for our light setup.

Habitat:

Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky. Attracted to lights at night.
