Description:

2' tall plant with dense, thimble-like spikes (.5-2" long). These spikes are called achenes. Once these have ripened, they will begin turning wooly--and eventually seed will be capable of being dispersed via wind.

Habitat:

Edges of dirt road clearing near thick mixed hardwood forest.
