A collection of 5 upside-down red orange tubes forms a bell, 1-2" long, with yellow tips and hollow nectar-filled spurs.

Habitat:

Spotted along Hwy 29 near Pine Lake. It grows in dry, rocky places, and open deciduous woods,.

Notes:

Columbine belong to the Buttercup family. Its nectar tubes make it a favorite flower of hummingbirds.
