About one inch long, just hanging out in the window sill.

Might be a different species of Saperda like Saperda discoidea which can be very abundant as you have described. This specimen looks too dark to be Saperda calcarata and doesn't seem to have any black specks marking the wing covers. Saperda discoidea feeds on hickory and walnut trees
