Mississippi Kite

Ictinia mississippiensis

Description:

Fairly large grey bird (14") with black tail and whitish head. Black tail distinguishes it from similar White-tailed Kite.

Habitat:

Open woodlands, wooded streams, swamps. Two were in the top of the cedar elm in front of my house. We're next to a greenbelt that is wooded and has a small stream running through it.
