Aspen

Populus tremuloides

Description:

I don't know all the info about them, but I know they are beautiful trees especially in the fall when the leaves turn all shades or yellow to red. They contrast greatly with the surrounding evergreens. They are also known for the "eyes" that form along their beautiful white trunks. Aspens grow in clusters that are actually connected by the roots, so what you think is an individual aspen tree is actually many trees that form one larger organism.

Habitat:

seen in the mountains throughout colorado.

Last fall I got a lot of great aspen pictures but that was before I was on project Noah so I havent gotten around to uploading those. I was going to load my spottings from my trip to Yellowstone a couple years ago as well but there's so many pictures and so little time. Hahaha
