Shannon, yes you are absolutely correct. I think I just confused the names in my head...
Doesn't look like any nettle species I've seen on the east coast. Looks more like a thistle species to me.
I'm pretty sure this is a type of nettle. I think it might be too hard to tell at this stage, but when it gets a bit bigger or flowers you can probably tell what species it is.
