Spotting

Description:

White fuzz balls with pink dots wrapped on a tree branch. Noticed a small bug, looked like a beetle bored into some of the branches. I suspect that maybe this is a fungus resulting from the beetles but have never seen anything like it before.

Habitat:

In a stand of small trees lining a fence line. I did not observe this on any other tree.
