Amanita muscaria
This type of mushroom is well known in Europe and North America. In Brazil, was first found in the work of jesuit father Johannes Rick in Rio Grande do Sul. The hallucinogenic species Amanita muscaria was first reported by the mycologist Maria Homrich at Rio Grande do Sul’s plateau and published in the journal Sellowia in 1965. At that time, the introduction of this fungus in Brazil was attributed to the importation of Pinus’ seeds from regions where it is native. The spores of the fungus should have been brought mixed with imported seeds. Later, the fungus was also found in Rio Grande do Sul, and more recently (1984) in Sao Paulo in the region of Itararé in mycorrhizal association with Pinus pseudostrobus. Amanita species native to the Amazon are cited by Dutch C. Bas in 1978, which describes seven species new to science (A. campinaranae Bas, A. coacta, A. craseoderma Bas, A. crebresulcata Bas, A. lanivolva Bas, and A. sulcatissima Bas) and a provisional name (A. phaea Bas). There are also quotes from Amanita in Parana, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Rondônia, and Pernambuco. In the latter State, at least three spécies are referred, A. Singer lilloi occurring in lawns and gardens (probably exotic), A. crebresulcata in the Atlantic Forest, and A. lippiae Wartchow & Tulloss recently described for areas in rocky fields in the semiarid Brazilian. Maria, I actually photo everything that pops out in front of me. My trigger finger is always itching... :-)
Nice series - you are really branching out from the insects!
Mayra, eu já sabia que eles tinham sido avistados no Brasil, importados por acaso (sendo, portanto, uma espécie invasiva), mas nunca tinha visto nenhum, e nem sabia que eles podiam ser encontrados aqui na minha área. / Mayra, I already knew that they had been seen in Brazil, imported by mistake (which makes them an invasive species), but I never saw one before, and I didn't know that they could be found here where I live.
Que lindos Asergio, não sabia que existiam desses no Brasil!
