Description:

Medium sized ducks. The males have brightly contrasted hooded heads, while the females hoods are usually brown.

Habitat:

Freshwater lake surrounded by mixed woods.

Notes:

This is a rare sighting in this area, the breeding pairs are critically endangered in North Carolina.
