Adonidia merrilii
The manila palm, also commonly known as the Christmas palm, is part of the Arecaceae family. Manila palms have light-brown trunks with stacks of dark brown, horizontal lines. Between the light-green crownshaft and the trunk are clusters of red-skinned fruits shaped like grapes. The leaves are pinnate, arched, and are slightly darker than the crownshaft. Manila palms can grow between 20-25 feet.
Manila palms grow well in lower elevations and in full light. This plant was found in Easter Seals Hawai'i.
Manila palms are neither endemic, indigenous, or native to Hawai'i. They are native to the Philippines and Malaysia.
