Sorry this is a report from someone else not me. I hope to get out there over the weekend, but I am also looking for the Long-tailed duck and a Grey Catbird.
Newhall Community Park, a Eastern Phoebe ( Sayornis phoebe ) , and a Yellow- shafted Flicker ( Colaptes auratus auratus ). Direction to the place from Clayton Road in Concord turn into Indian ln, park the car in the small parking lot by lake, go to the left about 100 meters, along the edge of the pond ( on your right ) the low shoulder on your left separates the park from the residential area, up to the area with small depression , there are two oak trees one with tree house and the pepper tree, two houses with yard facing the side of the park and sign residential area, bird feeder and bath. The Phoebe was flying between the park and residential area. Notice, it seems that the bird only from time to time visit this place when I saw him the first time I've seen also as had flown toward residential area, away from the park, he returned about 30 minutes later.
Jemma there is a rare bird in your area. In Newhall park is a Eastern Phoebe. I might go there to find it this weekend but I am giving you a heads up. It's on the east side of the park between the residential area and the ponds.
