Flesh Fly

Description:

Large fly, usually with red eyes. The typical patterns are lengthwise darker stripes on the thorax and dark and light square dots on the abdomen.

Habitat:

Worldwide. This one was hanging about on the shrubs and on the Rue with other flower flies and beetles.

Notes:

Not all flies in this species are carrion or dung feeders. Some steal prey or live most of their life using a host.
