Carpodacus purpureus
Crimson red head, throat, breast and rump; brownish red cheek patch, aides and streaked back; dark notched tail; light unstreaked belly and under tail.
Nest: open coniferous and mixed forests, forest fringes and conifers in cities and towns. Migration: open coniferous, mixed or parkland forests.
Saw on the hydro lines while I was in the backyard. First thing I noticed was the song, then I looked for the bird. This guy has a more distinct song for a bird in the suburbs.
