Red Squirrel

Sciurus vulgaris

Description:

Well known attractive and playful reddish rodent, about 40 cm long - half of the length goes to that beautiful tail. And, I must say, it was a great fun to observe it foraging, climbing up trees and coming back... Even though I kept a respectful distance of more than 30m, I think this beauty was very used to human presence, as it did not appear bothered...

Habitat:

Very common forest, groves, parks and hedges dweller in Geneva lake valley. Here, observed foraging in an settlement located on edges of a small lowland forest, a grove actually, on shores of a small stream.
