Boletus bicolor

Description:

This species rapidly turns from yellow to blue when cut open. Boletes are easily identified by the spongy material found in place of gills. Looking closer you will notice that it is stacks of tubes giving the surface a pored look.

Habitat:

Growing in my friends yard around hardwoods.

Notes:

I had several other pictures of these mushrooms and a video showing the bluing effect but lost them in an unfortunate SD card accident. I hope to find more this year and post new pictures.
