As robust as the adult is, I'd say it's a female. Males are quite slender.

Both of your beautiful grasshoppers are the same species. The yellow one is an adult and the black and red one is a juvenile. You may be able to tell if the adult is male or female if you compare the pictures from the link above. Great spot and nice photos.
