Anhinga anhinga
Large water bird, black to dark brown in color. Long, snake-like neck, narrow pointed bill.
Commonly found in and around water. When they swim, only the head and neck are visible. The body floats just below the surface of the water. They are nicknamed "snake-bird" because of the way they look while swimming. After being in the water, they must dry their feathers by holding out their wings, usually with their back toward the sun.
