Branta Canadensis
An adorable pair of fluffy little Canadian goslings, napping by a lively pond.
These species are native to arctic and temperate regions of North America. There is about 7 different species of Canadian Geese. They migrate to warmer climates as Fall arrives and water begins to freeze. They settle in British Columbia or Northern Mexico in October-January.Then back again to the U.S. The geese breed in early Spring around marshes, ponds and lakes and other waters, and often found in man made habitats such as Airports,Golf courses and our back yards.
I observed this family at a near by Pond on the outskirts of town, for about 6 weeks. Both Goose and Gander were doing their job and they all appeared healthy.I One morning I went to check on them and they were gone. From the amount of feathers left on the ground, there didn't seem to be much of a struggle.I think someone took all of them, very quickly.
