About the size of a US quarter. Thick hairs on spines, reddish brown eyes.

Habitat:

Found on a screen porch near lots of other bugs. Home was near a creek/heavily wooded area in Columbus GA

Bug guide said Juriniopsis adusta. Seems like it works.

Looks like this species. Bombyliomyia soror
But did not find enough info. You may want to submit these photos to bugguide.net as they only have 1 photo (if it is this species)
