Golden-hair Lichen

Teloschistes flavicans

Description:

I'm unsure if this is a lichen or not?

Habitat:

Found growing on mangroves on the edge of a tidal creek. They were only found above the high-tide mark where-ever I saw them.

This lichen is quite special Leanne. It's endangered in many places and protected by law in the UK for example. You can love it again now.

Thank you Alice! Hmmm, maybe I don't love it as much now!

It may be a love vine which is a parasite that ends up killing whatever it fastens to. I have found it once at the beach here in Florida and also on one of the Bahama Islands.
