Geranium robertianum
A member of the cranesbill family. Has a red stalk and dark green leaves, with purple-pink flowers. The name "Robert" apparently refers to a household sprite of English folklore called Robin Goodfellow (sometimes called Robert), the very sprite mentioned in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream". The buds have the characteristic "pointy" appearance of the cranesbills.
Very common in woodland, hedgerows and shady areas of grasslands. Can grow on rocks and shingle, and found in dry, disturbed wasteland sites too.
I found this growing under a dried up dead shrub in a dry shady area of my road.
