Description:

Three to four foot lax, shrubby, perennial. Leaves are 2-3 in. long, usually have a heart shaped base and are about as broad as they are long. The bright red flowers never fully open. I

Notes:

The flowers, fruit and young leaves are edible either raw or cooked. Dried, the flowers make a nice tea. Cooked down, the fruit produce a nice jelly or syrup. Flowers and leaves yield nice dyes. Mexican people use flowers and leaves medicinally.
