Description:

Large, plump bird with long legs and a hairless head and neck. These birds can fly but do spend a lot of time on the ground foraging and can run quite fast. The feathers are dark with iridescence. Wings are brown with white stripes. This small flock was foraging next to the road near the visitor center at Mammoth Cave National Park.

Habitat:

Grassy field area bordering temperate forest.
