Looks like a ladybug but it slightly more orange, and has a ribbed back a bit like a pillbug... Plus, look at those legs/antennae... Not sure what this was.

Good advice SFShep! It's actually a pupa not a larva - the link I've added shows all the stages for this species.
A suggestion might be to look up what ladybug larva look like. It certainly has the pattern of a ladybug.
