Tamopsis sp
These were two different egg sacs on the same pine tree. White balls about 6mm wide with an irregular surface hanging from thin silken threads attached to the bark of a gum tree.
Spotted in a nature reserve -with tall eucalyptus trees
These seem to be the egg sac of the common two-tailed spider perhaps similar to this one http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/809.... For more pictures of these sacs see http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/884... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/110... Also see http://www.flickr.com/photos/jean_hort/5...

Thanks Martin. You're obviously right about the Jean Hort's pic being that of another species. The link was the first one I saw which mentioned Hersiliidae egg sac and, it also mentioned a little hole on the upper part of the sac just like the one in Mr Bee's spotting. - I got a bit carried away !!!
Nice spotting Mrs Bee =)
It's nice to have this species finally complete with ID.
I believe the 'spiky' egg sac of Jean Hort (in your link) is another species again.
