Description:

Gelatinous fungus with elastic wrinkled blobs. It is brown to orange-brown coloured. When old it forms a brownish crust. It can be over 20cm across.

Habitat:

Usually found on conifer twigs in Europe and America. This one was spotted on a dead pine branch.

Interesting question, ArgyBee. Although in some places it is classified as a non edible mushroom, I know that at least in Spain some people eat them raw in salads. There is no taste but a kind of jelly bean consistency. Maybe the name comes from the disappointment you feel the first time you eat it expecting a sweet jelly bean, ;)
