Eastern bluebird

Sialia sialis

Description:

The Eastern Bluebird is a small thrush found in open woodlands, farmlands and orchards, and most recently can be spotted in suburban areas.

Habitat:

Seen in my yard.

Notes:

Chickadees had first built a nest in this box but then abandoned their two eggs for some reason. Bluebirds built a nest on top before I could remove it, laid four eggs and these are the first hatchlings, a day old.

Added two more photos of the babies at 11 and 14 days. You can see the blue tail feathers coming in at 14 days. They should be ready to leave the nest soon!
